Remix!

The internet in general, and MySpace in particular, is a great way for people with good ideas to come up with genius music, for cheap, and get an audience for it. But it's also a great way for people with ridiculous ideas to come up with crazy music, and get an audience for it.

Now, this is especially true for a 'technophile' band such as Radiohead, always keen on online releases, collaborations and so on. But this led to a myriad of people who wanted to twist their songs as they please. I'm not talking of the usual Ibiza remixes here, every Top-10 hit goes through that.
No, I'm talking about some much more absurd stuff, such as mixing a few Radiohead songs into one Country-music song titled Rodeohead, as performed by the band Hard'n'Phrim (you can download the song here). That's a few years old, now.
More recently, I stumbled across this Hip-Hop producer who had the great idea to mix Radiohead music with Jay-Z vocals!!!! There's a complete album, appropriately named Jaydiohead, to be downloaded here.

To be honest, I'm not a fan of Jay-Z, and the mixes don't always work that well. But just just for the principle this is pure genius. And the song Dreaming Up (from Up on the Ladder, an In Rainbows B-side), is actually pretty terrific. It's almost making me like Hip-Hop ;-)
