Archive is a strange band

Originally classified as a Trip-Hop band in the like of Massive Attack or Portishead, Archive started as a typical UK band. Like so many others, they failed to make it big there, being confined to small venues around Camden.

One factor that might have gotten in the way is the fact that they never managed to keep a singer for two albums in a row, which does not help.

What is strange though is that they started to get a name for themselves on the continent, and they are now quite well-known in France, Belgium and so on. And still fairly unknown over here (as a matter of fact, most of their albums are not even released in the UK). As a consequence they tour mainly in Europe, but they will be playing at Dingwall next monday.

I will definitely go there! It's still not sold out, and will be the first time I see them live. Interestingly, I almost saw them in Paris some time ago, where they were playing a 7000 capacity venue (a live album of that very gig has been released) , but couldn't make it in the end. This intimate gig promises to be much better...

Watch an amateur clip of one of my favourite songs, the subtly-titled Fuck U:
