It seems that I never miss TOD when they play in London; not that they are my favorite band ever, but because they never sell out here, I think....
Anyhow, the support act was The Manhattan Love Suicides. Cool name, rubbish band; they undoubtedly have the award of the crappiest band I saw this year. A complete I-don't-give-a-fuck attitude on stage, not the slightest acknowledgment of the presence of an audience, songs that all sounded the same (actually they could have played the same one over and over, for the difference it made...), and a guitarist that couldn't play his two chords properly... Berk!
TOD were good as usual, slightly better even than last time. They have a new drummer who is quite skilled, and jammed along with Conrad's impros a few time. The set list was brilliant, Jason didn't sing too many songs (although he did sing the first two), and a few songs from the latest album were played as well. I even self-indulged with a bit of crowd-surfing on Will You Smile Again For Me, but the security staff wasn't impressed ;-)
At the end of the gig, after most of the crowd had left the venue, I managed to get a pick from one of the roadies, but sadly it wasn't a TOD pick, just a regular Dunlop one... Too bad...
