The Prince Aftershow, Indigo2

I can't say I am a big fan of Prince. I guess I was too young at the peak of his career, so I never really got into his music. It is therefore by sheer curiosity that I bought tickets for Friday's gig; I was thinking that seeing a such a legend in a small venue couldn't be bad, without being aware that he may not show up.

Well, he DID show up! Not only that, but he stayed for almost two hours, hardly leaving the stage at all! He was either singing (he even bothered to do back-up vocals for some songs!!!), playing guitar, keyboards, bass or simply dancing on the stage while the other musicians were playing.
Music-wise, we were treated with Hip-Hop, RnB, Soul, Funk, Rock, Jazz and Disco as the musicians came and went on and off stage as they felt. There were a couple of Prince songs, a few covers (CHIC's Le Freak.... Amazing...) and loads of impros.
As he left the stage, he even gave his guitar to someone in the crowd, which I find an amazing gesture. And it was a Telecaster '52 as well, not some cheap Squier!!! He then went to salute the fans, and I managed to touch his guitar-playing left hand... Never washing hands again ;-)

I'm so glad there was not a movie premiere or something more interesting to do that night. And I'm definitely going to the main show now! Review of that next week...
