One word: Wow!
As the name of the venue suggests (the Parc des Princes is a slightly smaller stadium than the better-known Stade de France), Muse have now definitely reached the level of legends. What a night, what a show!
The evening started with the slightly disapointing Biffy Clyro, who are supposed to be legends alive but I wasn't impressed by their Nirvana-style power pop. They only played 4 songs though...
Then Archive followed, and that was interresting as I compare their show with last fortnight's gig in an intimate venue in London. They had more space on stage and were obviously more confortable with that, but I do think their sound got lost a little bit in the open air. The setlist being exactly the same as the london gig, there were no big surprises for me, but the crowd seemed to enjoy their weird, repetitive music, even though most of them obviously had no clue of who these guys were.
And finally, Muse. They are definitely the best and most ambitious band alive. Matt Bellamy is out of his mind, and at the same time he is by far the best guitarist and pianist I have ever seen. they played for 2 hours and a half, even including some songs from their first album (Sunburn and an incredible acoustic rendition of Unintended). Almost every song had some visual effect added, either giand satellite dishes for City of Delusion or the usual balloons on Bliss. The only mistake there was the dancers hanging from helium balloons on Ruled by Secrecy, that looked a little bit ridiculous and drove the attention away from the stage. But other than that, the perfect night...
