Silverchair

Yes I know, I have been neglecting this blog lately. It's not my fault, really, it's all because of that bloody job of mine. It's been awfully busy lately.

Stop complaining about your job, Jooles.

Right.

So, moving on: I just noticed Silverchair's new album is about to be released, at least in Australia. It has been 5 years since their previous effort...
And you can listen to the whole album on their myspace page (here). What a great idea.

From what I heard so far, the first song, Young Mondern Station, is very good but the rest is pretty much rubbish. First impression though, I haven't listened to every songs yet.

Strangely enough, Silverchair has always been underrated in my opinion, at least in Europe. That's probably because they started as a Grunge band, after the end of Grunge. Not the best situation for credibility...
Yet Daniel Johns can be an extremely good songwriter at times - especially when he goes into Muse-esque grandeur, such as in songs like Emotional Sickness.
He stinks when he tries too hard to be "arty" though. The previous album, Glamorama, was of absolutely no interest to me. From what I heard, the new album, New Modern, seems to go into that direction.

D'ough!

Still believe that Ana's song is a great song. but the last album.... I don't understand why they are doing pratically pop music now!

@Nik: I know you love them. I wouldn't have re-discovered them without you though...

@Enrico: Presumably it's not pop but AAAAArt. Don't worry I don't get it either. But ask Nik, she loves that album, so...
