Fake A Grimm On My Space

For a change, I am going to talk about a unknown band today. They are called Fake Grimm, and are from New Jersey in the US. Which is a shame since it seems they are not touring in the UK.

But that's the beauty of MySpace (their page is here): they asked me as friend, so I nicely obliged and listened to their songs quickly, as I do with all the bands that spam me for MySpace friendship.

And that's how I heard this song, The Cell Phone Song (be careful: it's not the first song when the page opens!). Granted, the title is awful. But the song itself is very good, surprisingly catchy for an un-signed band. Very Muse-esque, with high-pitched arpeggios and a crazy, heavy guitar riff.

The other songs are not as good but are still quite interesting, and worth listening to. And I really appreciated this statement on their MySpace: "Fake Gimms' mission is to provide a fresh contribution to a rock genre victimized by a vicious cycle of retro-revivals and two-hit wonders". I couldn't agree more. What Fake Grimm's contribution will be exactly, well it's still to be seen, but the ambition is there, or so it seems.
