Sold out!

It seems that these days, every single important gig (by important I mean that the band has some airplay on XFM…) is selling out so fast I don’t see it coming. So unless I’m ready to be online at 9am on a Sunday morning when the tickets go on sale (not many bands will make me do that!), I almost always miss them.
Of course, there is the possibility to pay 3 times the ticket value on e-bay but I am quite reluctant to give any money to these guys who exploit the misery of lazy unfortunate fans. Plus, to be honest, it would start to be really expensive.
My latest experience is for Bloc Party: they are playing at the Astoria tonight, tomorrow and Friday, but I couldn’t get tickets. Question: Since they sold out so fast, why did they not play in a bigger venue???

However, I have found a strategy to get tickets at face value! Yes! And so far, it has always worked (ehr, that is twice…): the day before the gig, I look up these two websites: Gumtree and Scarlet Mist. They are always full of people who had to cancel at the last moment and it is too late for e-bay so they are more than happy to get their money back!
